Summer’s Perfect Food: Sushi!
Jun 17, 2016
Summer’s sweltering temperatures means you’ll want light, cool-you-down food like sushi.
Lucky for you, there’s no shortage of great sushi options in O.C. when you need your fix. Here are a few of our favorite sushi spots:
Summertime at Sushi Roku at Fashion Island means dining on light, flavorful sushi and sipping on refreshing sake al fresco in the heart of Newport Beach! Perfect for the warmer weather is Sushi Roku’s signature Fluke Sashimi & Kumquat Jam with yuzu vinaigrette (pictured above). Other summer sushi must-tries? Seared Salmon Sashimi with a togarashi crust, avocado, and cilantro-jalapeno salad; and Toro Sashimi with oscietra caviar and yuzu salt.
For sushi right on the coast, head to Bluefin at Crystal Cove Shopping Center for a can’t-miss omakase lunch. Bluefin’s omakase (which means “trust me” in Japanese and features a chef’s selection of sushi) is a sumptuous 5-course feast priced at $45 and usually includes a sashimi salad, nigiri sushi and ends with dessert. Bluefin is a uniquely innovative Japanese restaurant by critically acclaimed chef Takashi Abe, who blends classical Japanese Cuisine with modern European influences. Signature dishes include Chilean sea bass and foi gras with while truffle oil butter sprinkled with real gold flakes, and halibut carpaccio with dustings of pink peppercorn and chives in a ponzu perfumed with light truffle oil.
