STEAM Carnival Draws More Than 3,000 to The Market Place

More than 3,000 people turned out for Irvine Public Schools Foundation’s 2nd annual STEAM Carnival at The Market Place in Irvine on April 30, 2016.

ALB_2886Children enjoyed hands-on learning activities from a variety of booths at the event, including discovering game mechanics with human foosball, tinkering with robots, going on a LEGO Scavenger Hunt, art activities, an animal exhibit, photo booth, live performances – and more.

ALB_2903The family-friendly event for all ages was designed to provide children with fun, hands-on activities in an interactive carnival atmosphere to spark their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).

ALB_2867Some of the most popular booths included Waste Management’s “Think Green” waste hauling truck giving kids a chance to get up close and sit in the passenger seat, the human foosball game, and California State University, Long Beach’s “Not a Selfie” photo booth.

ALB_2791This year’s event was a huge success and more than tripled attendance from last year’s inaugural carnival!
