New Year, Healthier You: Fitness Apparel to Help Kick Start 2016
Jan 6, 2016
We all know the saying, “ new year, new you.” There’s something freeing about the clock striking us into a new year – it’s the chance to start fresh and take a step toward a healthier you.
If one of your 2016 resolutions is to add a fitness regime to your routine, here are some of our favorite athletic apparel items to help get you started with a run, jump, squat or downward dog.
The perfect leggings are a must. At Fashion Island, YOGASMOGA’s new Tippy Toe Vigor Leggings ($160) in a cool camo print make the perfect addition to your workout wardrobe. The Herringbone fabric in this bold print merges fashion with innovative fabric designed to hold its color and hold you in place.
Grab a great pair of shoes to keep you both comfortable and stylish. Is there any other way to go but Nike? The Nike Running store at Fashion Island has a selection that runs the color wheel. Our current favorite: the Nike Free TR 5 Flyknit Women’s Training Shoe in Bright Citrus/ Pink Pow ($130). This shoe ups the ante with a new, lightweight fit that adapts to the shape of your foot, giving you maximum flexibility and support.
If you’re an aspiring yogi, a seamless sports bar is a must. At lululemon athletica at Irvine Spectrum Center, grab the Free To Be Bra * Wild ($48). Designed with an open neckline and strappy back, this bra gives you plenty of room to flow, twist and sweat your way through yoga class. You can’t go wrong with the standard black bra, but the Blue Sapphire is a speckled print we have our eyes on this year.
If running is more your speed, pick up a pair of Nike Women’s 3-Inch Running Shorts ($35) from Sports Authority at The Market Place. Dri-FIT fabric wicks sweat to keep you comfortable while the generous cut reduces chafing as you move. The Cool Grey shade will pair effortlessly with all your other workout pieces.
Find your fitness mantra on the graphic tees and tanks ($29 – $35) at Lucy Activewear at Corona del Mar Plaza. Through on the “Sun Day Run Day,” “Work Hard” or “Never Don’t Stop” tanks to keep you motivated throughout 2016.
Cheers to a healthier, happier you this year!
