What’s for Lunch: Pizzeria Sapori
Aug 12, 2015
Locally beloved chef Sal Maniaci once again delights Newport Beach with his mastery of authentic Italian cuisine.
Pizzeria Sapori, located in Newport Beach near the entrance to Balboa Island, is chef Maniaci’s second restaurant concept following Sapori Ristorante. This pizzeria serves up a slice of Naples with techniques and ingredients sourced straight from Italy. The restaurant has a rustic Italian vibe and is the perfect lunch destination whether you’re dining alone or with family and friends.
Here are a few of faves from the menu:
To start, try the Arancine ($7), a lightly fried rice ball stuffed with spinach, ham and mozzarella, or the Burrata & Prosciutto plate ($16).
The classic Marinara pizza ($10) is superb in its simplicity. Served with nothing more than San Marzano tomato sauce, Sicilian oregano, fresh garlic, basil, extra virgin olive oil, the Marinara proves that less is more.
Adorned with imported bufala mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma, arugula, pecorino romano and extra virgin olive oil, the Bufalina pizza ($18) incorporates both fresh and rich flavors.
The vegetarian Sapori pizza ($19) is loaded with grape tomatoes, homemade mozzarella, grilled eggplant, and fresh zucchini, pecorino romano, basil and extra virgin olive oil. The portions of each topping are just right to get each flavor in every bite.
Stop by Pizzeria Sapori in Bayside Shopping Center for lunch Monday-Friday from 11:30 am-2:30 pm!
