Q&A with YouTube’s Maddi Bragg and Suede Brooks

At this year’s Back to School: Endless Summer Festival at Irvine Spectrum Center, popular YouTube style vloggers Maddi Bragg and Suede Brooks will be hosting a meetup to showcase their top looks for back-to-school on Saturday, August 15 from 2-4 p.m in Giant Wheel Court.

Q: How did you get into vlogging?

Screen Shot 2015-08-10 at 2.47.53 PMMaddi: I’ve always been into fashion and have loved watching fashion and beauty tutorials online. One day I thought “Hey, I could do that!” So I did and now here I am four years later still making videos and loving it.

Suede: I started vlogging about two years ago. I was being bullied in school and to take my mind off of it I would watch beauty and fashion vlogs. It helped me discover my passion for fashion and inspired me to start my own channel.

Q: What is your favorite back-to-school look?

Screen Shot 2015-08-10 at 2.32.38 PMMaddi: I always try to wear something comfortable, yet still stylish when it comes to dressing for school. My favorite look is a cute dress with black boots or sneakers and a denim jacket.

Suede: My favorite back-to-school look is a pair of boyfriend jeans that are either thrifted or DIY’d with a classic white button up.  I love pairing that look with either Chelsea boots or doc martens!

Q: Describe your style in three words.

Screen Shot 2015-08-10 at 2.50.48 PMMaddi: Simple, denim, black are three words that define my style.

Screen Shot 2015-08-10 at 2.52.40 PMSuede: My style is definitely girly, edgy and chic.

Q: What fall trends are you most excited about?

Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 2.09.04 PMMaddi: Simple black boots are always so trendy for fall as well as thigh high boots and I’m obsessed with both. I’m also super excited to wear printed tights and dark colored mini skirts.

Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 10.48.39 AMSuede:  I can’t wait to pull out my cozy oversized knit sweaters! I like to pair knit sweaters with either leggings, jeans or even over a dress with a pair of boots.

Q: What are some of your favorite stores?

c96bb4841e077a3d40521fc72fbcc227Maddi: I can’t stay away from Topshop, Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, Reformation, Brandy Melville and Bloomingdale’s.

Suede: My go-to stores are Topshop, Asos, and Brandy Melville.

Q: What item in your wardrobe can you NOT live without?

Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 2.11.38 PMMaddi: I could never live without my black jamie jeans from Topshop! They are mid-rise, have holes in both knees and are super comfortable. I wear them multiple times per week because the fit is so incredible.

Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 11.10.04 AMSuede: I absolutely love my jean jacket! Whether I’m sporting a more casual look or even wearing it over a maxi dress, my jean jacket is an essential in my closet.
