What’s for Lunch: Urban Plates

Urban Plates Logo

The long line of fans at Urban Plates everyday does not lie: this place is worth the wait. When it opened in 2013 at Crossroads in Irvine, Urban Plates became an instant hit amongst locals for its modern cafeteria-style setting and satisfying, chef-driven meals. In fact, so many people flocked to the restaurant that it had to increase its seating within mere months.

Urban Plates

For around $11 a plate, hungry diners can feast on a variety of offerings, from fresh salads to entrees like all-natural steak, grilled wild ono fish with chimichurri (our favorite!), grilled free-range chicken and honey-mustard glazed salmon. There’s also daily-made stews and braises, not to mention a great selection of housemade sides and salads, too. We always crave Urban Plates’ Raw Super Food Salad, with kale, edamame, blueberry, apple, almonds, sunflower seeds, tomatoes and honey ginger balsamic dressing.

Desserts

Toward the end of the line, you can’t miss the giant glass display filled with tempting, scratch-made baked goods, from giant cookies to mango tarts, cupcakes and more.

Banana Cream Tart

We’re partial to the salted caramel brownie and the banana cream tart (above)!

Urban Plates is located at Crossroads, 3972 Barranca Parkway in Irvine. 949-387-2600
