Behind-the-scenes for Style Week Orange County: The “Pull”

Just two more days until Style Week Orange County arrives! Our stylists have been hard at work pulling together looks from several participating retailers at Irvine Spectrum Center for Saturday’s collection runway show featuring Nordstrom, Macy’s, Active Ride Shop, American Apparel, Brandy Melville, Lucky BrandMaxStudio, Foreign Exchange, Tommy BahamaWhite House | Black Market and more! Turns out there’s a lot more than just grabbing a bunch of clothes and throwing them onto a rack.

With 10 stores to pull from and 18 models to outfit for Saturday, STYLEWEEKOC stylist Toni Pickett has to stay extremely organized – we’re talking drawing up charts and figuring out lots of fashion math – and having a razor-sharp memory to remember what each model looks like as the looks are culled.  Toni and her styling assistant Jazmine Montero are armed with a clipboard and stack of model comp cards, which displays headshots of each model, along with their stats such as height and dress sizes.

At Lucky Brand, the ladies worked together methodically and with quick ease, assembling relaxed and California cool denim ensembles by pairing soft print tees with flannels or leather jackets. Items were organized onto the rolling rack and looks were separated with clear plastic pouches attached to a hanger containing each model’s comp card for easy reference. Within an hour, all of the models’ looks were selected and ready to be wheeled away to a warehouse for storage until the show.

To see what outfits made the cut and of course, all the gorgeous models strut in said attire, head to Giant Wheel court at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 28 to catch the STYLEWEEKOC action live on the catwalk. See you there!
