The redeveloped seven-screen Island Cinema will open on December 16, bringing a premier movie-going experience to Orange County. Theater patrons will be greeted by a spacious lobby with a classic Italian look that reflects the recently completed reinvestment of Fashion Island.

Island Cinema will be comprised of 670 oversized seats in seven theaters that feature state-of-the-art Sony Real D projection and sound, as well as commercial-free movies. Four of the theaters are capable of showing 3D movies.

All seating at Island Cinema will be reserved, which can be requested when purchasing tickets online, at the box office, or through an on-site Cinema Concierge. The concierge can also assist with reservations at Fashion Island restaurants.

In addition to traditional movie concessions, Island Cinema will offer an enhanced menu including gourmet sandwiches, specialty items such as hand-scooped ice cream, pizza, quiche, and more. Pastries and specialty coffee drinks, as well as beer, wine and champagne will also be available.

 

The theater grand re-opening will be celebrated with two charity benefits, one for the Newport Beach Film Festival on December 13 with an advanced screening of Young Adult, and a second for Oceana on December 14 with an advanced screening of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
